What is the Umbrella Caddie? If you have ever played a round of golf when it rains, you know the inconvenience and frustration of dealing with your umbrella while you are trying to play your next shot. The Umbrella Caddie eliminates these problems. No more laying your umbrella on the ground and having it blow away. No more asking your playing partners to hold your umbrella. No more dropping the handle into your golf bag only to have it get hung up on your clubs or the club separators when you try to retrieve it. The Umbrella Caddie slips over the rim of your bag and firmly holds your open umbrella within its jaws while you continue play. Not only does it prevent your umbrella from blowing away; the opened umbrella provides protection for your clubs and bag from the rain. The Umbrella Caddie has been tested and shown to work in winds up to 20 mph. It comes with two different size grip inserts for holding any size umbrella handle and works with most types of golf bags. When not needed, the Umbrella Caddie slips easily off the bag and is small enough that it can be stored in one of the bag’s pockets. How does the Umbrella Caddie work? The Umbrella Caddie product consists of two components, the Umbrella Caddie and the inner “Slide” piece. The Slide attaches to the inside of a golf bag via a hook and loop system. The Umbrella Caddie slips over both the rim of the bag and the Slide to form a single, solid unit. The Slide prevents the Umbrella Caddie from rotating on the bag when the wind blows. The Slide’s position is placed, by the golfer, at an optimum angle for the expected wind conditions; i.e., a more shallow angle for windier situations or a more upright position for calmer conditions. Once on the bag, all the golfer has to do is press the lever of the Umbrella Caddie to open the jaws wide enough to place the handle of the umbrella within. Releasing the handle will allow the jaws of the Umbrella Caddie to firmly hold the umbrella in place. The jaws’ rubber grip inserts prevent marring of the umbrella handle. To retrieve the umbrella, the golfer simply presses on the lever again to open the jaws wide enough to allow the umbrella handle to slip free Who could use the Umbrella Caddie? The ideal consumers for the Umbrella Caddie are players who walk the
course. It is designed to be placed on the bags of players who carry their
own bag; or players who use a pull cart. The Umbrella Caddie was not originally
designed to be used on the bags of players who are riding in a golf cart.
However, many of today’s golf umbrellas have longer shafts; thus
allowing a golfer who rides in a cart to use the Umbrella Caddie. The
design of the Umbrella Caddie is such that men, women and junior players
can easily use it. |
